Dance Class
a Performance by Tina Streich

The interdisciplinary Solo-Performance “Dance Class” is interfering with performance, Soundscape and a video installation. I want to decipher the secret codes, the subtle differences that divide a society into top and bottom. Unfolding where invisible walls are built and exploring what it means to belong to the “underclass” and to be excluded from it.
Moving away from your background but never really settling into your new social environment. An inner conflict that I’m approaching to translate into a performative confrontation with myself, with noises, body language and my environment. Class is invisible. Between adaptation and revelation, alienation and imposter syndrome. As Marie Davidson mentioned: “Work, Work it. Work, Work to be a winner. Winners, Work it good, Sweat, Sweat to be a Winner”.
