About:
Josseline Black (U.S.A 1987), BA. Anthropology/Archaeology, UCLA. Studied under Lionel Popkin
(Trisha Brown company),Victoria Marks (Bessie awardee), and Susan Klein (Klein Technique). She
trained classically with victor Moreno (Ballet Russes de Monte Carlo) and Nadya Kosciuk
(Vaganova). She has danced with Nicole Seiler (CH), Victoria Marks and Oliver Steele (NYC).
Since 2011, she has been creating her own works which have been performed in Europe and the
US. Her interest lies in excavating the body simultaneously with a site of performance, and working
with film as a medium to expand
the range of possibilities for contemporary dancers.
LaPalomaBlanca is a movement research collective founded by Josseline Black in 2011. It has a
changing shape according to project and collaborates with movers and artists from diverse
backgrounds.
She has been teaching contemporary dance and creating movement research workshops since
2010.
